Mason Jar Chandelier

Our wedding reception venue was held at Rock Wall Wine Company in Alameda, CA. This space was an old airplane hangar- which, for us, meant a huge blank canvas to let our imaginations run wild! Our first project we took on was to create a large focal point to set the tone for our wedding. I've always wanted a hanging light fixure made with mason jars and edison bulbs for our house, but found that they were always ridiculously expensive. After doing some research, I found that it wouldn't be too hard to make our own, thanks to my husband who has developed a new passion for carpentry through the whole wedding planning process. ;)

What we found with most mason jar chandeliers is that the bulbs were hung from the lids of the mason jars. We didn't like that when you looked up at those chandeliers, you wouldn't be able to get a clear view of how cool the edison bulbs looked. So instead, we got rid of the lids and drilled holes straight through the bottom of the glass jars- then, hung them upside down. Although this was a little more difficult and time consuming, we felt that the end result was well worth it!
